The Winter Solstice: Short Day – Long Night

By celebrating the Winter Solstice consciously we bring ourselves into alignment with the great mystery of the universe and in doing so we invite health, well-being and abundance into our lives.

The word Solstice means “sun standing still” or “grian-stad” in Irish. It marks the suns furthest position from us during winter; hence it is the shortest day of the year. The Winter Solstice is significant in our lives because it represents a “rebirth and renewal” of energies both for us and for nature. It is a time when we can consciously give birth to our dreams and intentions for the year ahead. A time to make clear what it is we want to manifest and create in this world, as well as what we wish to release.

Ancient cultures celebrated the Solstices to bring themselves into alignment with these natural cycles of nature. They would have considered it foolish to ignore these important times as it would mean being out of tune with the rhythms of the universe, the world and our bodies.

Late dawn. Early sunset. Short day. Long night. For us in the Northern Hemisphere, the December Solstice marks the longest night and shortest day of the year. No matter where you live on Earth’s globe, a solstice is your signal to celebrate.

As we honor the shimmering sliver of this Moon and the slant of light it brings, shining over every part of the earth, in every country, may we consider its significance upon this Winter Solstice.

May we create the world with Love, opening our hearts to peace, beyond understanding…

For those who are grieving

Those in harm’s way

Those with any perception of dis-ease

And for Mother Earth herself in this time of apparent confusion.

May we reduce our need for defensiveness and battle.

Help us to know when to engage and when to retreat.

And help us to remember that silence is often most powerful.

Bless all the children of this world and all of the mother’s who pray ceaselessly for the protection of their children.

Oh Great Spirit of all directions – ease our fears, help us to know your presence is as close as our breath.  Guide us in integrity as we use our personal will to honor your Will.

Bless our relationships with one another and our Earth home, as we explore our dominion over all things with a clear understanding that you shine through us all.

Guide us to speak and act with kindness and truth, understanding how powerful our words can be, may we be gentle with one another.

May we see clearly through your eyes with the courage to see reality.

Thank you for your eternal presence in all situations, even when we forget and for the truth that in this moment all is well.

Rest assured. All is well.

Wishing you the very best holy magic that this glorious season of Light has in store for you. Celebrate the season with cheerful hearts, deep reverence and sentient peace.                                                                                                                         Namaste’
